Full access to medical records
NHS England have planned that from 1st November all patients over the age of 16 should automatically have full access to all their medical records that are held electronically.
Whilst we wish to support the principle of patient access we have been advised by the BMA that we should only turn on universal access when appropriate data control and safeguarding checks have been implemented.
We will be undertaking these processes in the coming weeks to ensure safe implementation.
In the meantime, patients who already have online access will not have their settings changed and we will continue to respond to individual patient requests as per our current policy
